What happens at the start of a film…

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE START OF EVERY MOVIE?

1.     You would find the institution identities

(Examples of the movie institutions idents)
2.     It also presents the title of the movie in the following way; 'production company presents….' For example, Marvel Studio would have presented movies such as Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Fantastic Four, Assemble Avengers etc.
(Example from 'Spider-Man')
 3.     This then leads to the title sequence. Once the film title appears, the starts of the movie names would  also appear on the screen
(The opening sequence of 'Spider-Man 3')
4.     Music  would normally be used during the title sequence- creates mood and atmosphere (the music could come from the movie's soundtrack)
('Catching Fire's' soundtrack)
 5.     The first picture of the film would establish location, showing the audience where the story would take place (this would be done in a wide shot/extreme wide shot)
(Main setting of Thor: The Dark World)

6.     Key characters are also established/introduced to the audience
(The opening scene of 'Now You See Me')

7.     The genre of the film could also be established through MES, camera, sound etc
(The opening scene of  'The Woman in Black')

 8.     The opening of the movie also allows the audience to have sense of plot and story line of the movie
(One of the opening scenes in Chronicles 2012)
