3 Teen Movies - Different Audiences

Different Audiences For Different Movies!

Teen movies are made specifically for those in their teenage years, however, every film is targeted to certain kinds of people. Here are some examples of teen films with different audiences:

1. The Fast & The Furious

The Fast & The Furious was made in 2001.The movie consists of fast zooming cars and competitive young men driving these cars, so the target audience of this film is pretty straight forward, teenage boys! This movie has influenced many, if not all young boys around the world to have beautiful expensive looking cars and drive almost at the speed of light, haha! This movie is aimed particularly at boys because cars is one of their main interests and is their dream to be able to drive.

Also, we can see that the movie is meant to attract young males if we look at the poster. The colours used are blues, whites and greys which are suited to boys and the font is large and bold. There are also images of the amazing cars. It's easy to identify the difference between this and say, a movie for girls... I'm thinking Mean Girls? A very typical yet popular film aimed at the female teenage groups, let's take a look at that now.

2. Mean Girls

Mean Girls is a teenage drama made in 2004. It is about teenage 3 student girls who are very bitchy and turn the 'innocent' normal girl into one of them! The situations that take place in the movie are a replica of what really goes on in schools with girl groups; the backstabber, the 'wh**e', the dumb one, etc. So, this film has to be targeted towards young girls (Duh)!

Compared to The Fast & The Furious, the Mean Girls poster is pink , with pink letters and show the main group of girls in the film, showing it is a movie full of femininity  and girls.

These two movies have two individual audiences- boys for Fast & Furious, and girls for Mean Girls. But what about movies which are suited to BOTH of these audiences? Horror and comedy movies are a great indicator of having a mixed audience. Here's an example...

3. Scary Movie

This movie is great to watch with a bunch of different friends to have a good laugh as it is aimed at a diverse audience. The movie parody of other horror movies such as 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and 'Scream', which appeal to almost all teenagers.
