There is SO much to talk about when sharing my new skills and experiences I now have thanks to making a short clip of only 2 minutes!! There is a lot to know (the Do's and DONT'S) when we made out film opening.
Filming & Equipment:
This equipment was quite fragile and there were many things that we had to take with us to our filming location. We obviously took the camera, a fig rig, tripod, umbrella (we just couldn't get the equipment wet!), flip cam, small digital camera and of course our memory cards for the camera. When filming we had to keep the camera steady and remember all the possible rules such as the important 180 degree rule, no head space, camera angles (high angle and low angle shots), cuts and special effects - in the editing process we split screens to show different perspectives and we also used jump cuts. Another very important factor that we have included is the use of mise-en-scene due to our location, setting and lighting of location.
Blogging:
Blogging is something I have learnt to do and keep up to date with, I must admit that I had been a little bit behind with blogging, but I picked myself up and got the essential blog posts up! Also, blogging is probably the easiest part in this process so I have learnt that there really is nothing much to it and I might aswell get this out of the way before the important stuff comes in such as filming or editing which did take up a lot of time. The final thing I have learnt with blogging is that it is a very fun thing to do and you can add your own media into posts such as videos from YouTube OR your own recorded videos and images (Gifs).
Music & Images:
I have developed skills in my knowledge of how to extract copyright FREE music from CreativeCommons to use in my own film/video as well as making moving images or Gifs on Gifmaker to put into blog posts to make them more fun looking. Here's an example of making a gif on gifmaker --->
Software, Technology, Media:
The use of different software played a huge role in the time of planning and producing our film. The list of technology include Final Cut Pro, Timetoast, Prezi, Photoshop, Motion, GIFMaker, Camtasia & Clip Grab.
Final Cut Pro was the software that allowed us to edit and create all of our film based projects such as The Breakfast Club remake, our swede and now our teen film opening of 'Can You Keep A Secret?'. Timetoast is a website to create timelines, Prezi for presentations which we used for our pitch, Photoshop and Motion to create institution idents, GIFMaker for moving images, Camtasia for videos and presentations and Clipgrab to download videos from popular websites like YouTube.
Editing and Producing:
I now know how to use Motion, Photoshop and Final Cut Pro efficiently in editing a film, Motion and Photoshop worked very well together to make our institution idents for our film and Final Cut Pro also had its tools to make our film look right.
