5 Stereotypical Characters seen in 'Not Another Teen Movie' ..
(& probably in most other teen films)
1. The very popular JOCK
There will always be the Jock or 'popular hot guy' in many teen films. They are seen to be wearing some sort of leather jacket and jeans, a trendy and athletic appearance. The main stereotypes of the Jocks may be portrayed in the media as:
- Stuck up and selfish
- Aggressive
- Rude/Arrogant
- Handsome and athletic
- Unintelligent
- Abusing alcohol
- Girl popular
- A bully against people who are less popular or more vulnerable than they are such as nerds or outsiders..
2.The "uncool" NERD (antonym of JOCK)
Teen films will also usually have the typical nerd. They always wear a pair of glasses, very simple or dull looking clothing and seem to carry books around with them everywhere they go. The nerds are portrayed as shy and unattractive and tend to have interests and hobbies like:
- Academic and technical hobbies, especially those related to science, mathematics, geography and history.
- Activities described as obsessive and/or immature such as comic books, fantasy and sci-fi movies and TV programs.
- Fine arts and non-mainstream music.
3.Bitchy CHEERLEADER/JOCK Girlfriend
The popular female in teen films is mainly a cheerleader or "Queen Bee" and is seen to have her 'followers' walk behind her all the time to show status. She is also the one who is supposedly the girlfriend of the famous Jock.The female leader appears to:
The fat guy, chubb chubb, always-eating-donuts-and-burgers guy.. you name it, he will most likely appear at some point or another. This guy makes everything a lot funnier as he appears to be clumsy and also laugh often.
5. The TAG ALONG friend.
The tag along friend, "person in the background" or "side-man" is there, but isn't at the same time. They say very little, are humble and go with whatever anyone else is doing.
