Teen Film: She's all that

So over the holidays my parents decided it would be a good idea to invest into a free trial of Netflix. From this i rediscovered a teen film I watched a while ago but had completely forgotten about...

Obviously this meant i had to watch it and that's exactly what i did!
When doing so i happened to notice i few conventions themes that are known and loved typically form the teen film genre.
For example 'She's All That' is about a teenage romance. Some may call it a rom-com but i call it genius! The film is set in high school a place oh-so-relatable to teens.
The main character is the 'dork' Laney Boggs.
She becomes the subject of a bet between two high school Jocks. The bet being that one guy believes he can make any girl popular after his girlfriend (the most popular girl in school) breaks up with him.
This leaves him trying to befriend Laney to prove anyone can be the most popular girl in school. The only thing is he ends up falling for her. The film is also set at the beach, at prom, at a house party and at home. We see the characters bedrooms and living rooms.

Laney as a dork wears glasses and baggy messy clothing. When she becomes popular we see her without glasses and in more fitted clothing. This is something commonly seen in costumes of teen films. Also featuring in this film we had the bullies.
This film also features all star actors when they were up and coming. Actors such as Paul Walker, Usher, Lil Kim, Gabrielle Union, Freddie Prinze Jr, Matthew Lillard etc.
The themes of the film are love, romance, family, friends, popularity and art.

The music used is music that would have been popular in the time the film is set (1999).
